Pastor Andrew Plocher has a BA in Studio Art (printmaking) from Carleton College in Northfield, MN; an M.Div from Luther Seminary in St. Paul, Minn.; and a D.Min. in Pastoral Counseling from Louisville Seminary in Louisville, Ky. In 2015, he and his wife, Dr. Anna Zimmer, moved to the Upper Peninsula when she began as an Assistant Professor in German and the Honors Program at Northern Michigan University (NMU). Previously, he served parishes in Gwinn, Mich., greater Washington, DC, and Philadelphia, Penn.
In addition to serving congregations, Pastor Andrew has served as interim Campus Pastor at NMU, a consultant and mediator with non-profits and congregations, presented and led workshops at national conferences, and worked as a faith-based community organizer. He has a passion for building community, wrestling with deep questions, and preaching and teaching. He is deeply committed to addressing issues of justice and poverty.
Pastor Andrew and Anna live in Marquette with their son, Theo, and love to spend time at home, cooking and baking, savoring the outdoors and the arts, traveling, reading good books, taking hikes and exploring the UP, and spending time with their rescue dog, Maloos.
